Dedicated to boys…
(but objectively very unisex!!!)
Peacoat, sea wolf, Caban, double-breasted jacket.
Whatever you want to call it, it is one of the most fascinating, elegant and versatile jackets in the men's wardrobe.
I brought it home from Amsterdam: I love that its history has its roots right here, in the Dutch city, but it is of Italian manufacture.
Its precise origins are unclear, but it seems that the double-breasted jacket as we know it was used by the Dutch Navy in the 18th century: "pijjekker," meaning "coarse wool jacket." Originally, therefore, it was a "work" jacket.
Then the English took it over, making some classy changes and making it the jacket of the P. Officers on board: the P.coat, or Peacoat.
As per tradition, this blue double-breasted, mid-thigh-length jacket features a slim fit, cotton and wool, and a double row of six metal buttons featuring Her Majesty's crown. A welt pocket and a horizontal flap pocket are also included.
Wide lapels and a buttonhole where a cord was attached to attach the whistle.
The interior is a whole program: striped fabric on the sleeves and contrasting burgundy satin ribbon trim, the English used grosgrain.
“Take it as it is”. He says so.
👉🏻Minor defects indicated in the photo: a couple of spots “down in color”, and some knots in the fabric.

📐size L, shoulders 47 cm, chest 56, sleeve 62, length 74.5, waist 54.5.
💫Unisex! The beauty of double-breasted jackets is that you can reverse the fastening! The double-breasted jacket was born with this very function: reversing the buttoning depending on which way the wind was blowing!
🫶🏻you put it with everything!
